I spent most of december writing my dissertation and actually quite enjoyed the process because it deals with an issue that has been bugging me for a while. 

I decided to share it on my blog and hope some people might find it an interesting introduction to the subject matter.

Abstract

The graphic novel has increasingly become subject of critical and academical debate and is finally starting to be recognised as a literary genre in its own right. There are however still lingering misconceptions regarding its form and content. This paper aims to demonstrate the complexities and possibilities of visual storytelling and how these can be exploited to their fullest effect in graphic novels.

2015 Calendar - 'encounters'

I decided to make some calendars and (Christmas) cards. Anyone interested? :)

I believe a year is very much defined by the people you meet.

Every month of this calendar witnesses a new encounter of various characters. Some will be the beginning of a lifelong friendship while others will be over in a glimpse - it's up to you to decide.

An Alice in Wonderland themed commission I had a lot of fun with earlier this month. :)

Die Waldgeister

 It’s that time of the year again. :)

I’ve been gathering leaves to my heart’s content and stumbled across some little forest people.
The composer Paul Wendlandt wrote a little piece of music for them.
Have a listen, it’s so peaceful and perfectly captures their character. :)

'Book Journey' - Commision

 A commission I finished earlier this summer.
About the beauty of how books are able to transport us into other worlds.

The initial design featured paper boats but the client asked to change them into fish.
It's still the same message though.
