More Workshops

Here are some more outcomes of the workshops we did at Uni within the last few weeks.
One was called Realism Now! and we were tought how to create very realistic portraits using layers of crosshatching. I really enjoyed it. :)

they looked lovely all put on the wall next to each other.
We also did some very quick life drawing sessions where we had to change material constantly.

Then we did something colaborative called 'film on the wall' which was a lot of fun even though it looks kind of weird...

And some still lifes using some dead animals.

Location Drawing No. I

This project is called 'Drawing Approaches' and quite a big part of it is location drawing. This means we're encouraged to travel to interesting places and record them in our sketchbooks - is there anything better than being an Illustration student? ^^ If only the weather would be slightly more friendly...
I've discovered the usefulness of water brushes though, which I barely put down these days. They allow me to effortlessly take my water colours everywhere and just start sketching. Brilliant stuff.
Anyway, here are some pages I filled being out and about Bournemouth and Marwell Wildlife. Enjoy.

Experimental Life Drawing

The last life drawing session was a bit different to the ones we used to have...and rather random.
We had to paint using both hands simultaneously all the time and constantly changing the materials which were quite unconventional as well..I've never painted with clay before... Also brushes were banned and we were left with just some sticks, spaghetti, real feathers and our hands. Oh well, I didn't get that messy with painting since kindergarten I guess.:,D It was totally liberating somehow...it's good to sometimes let everything go and don't even think about what your hands are producing.
The outcomes are ugly though...but good stuff for my portfolio apparently since they contain a broad range of different mark making techniques.

Portrait Lifedrawing II

This feels actually like ages ago... but I really didn't had much time to post during the stress of the last weeks..ahah :,D
Another life drawing session using oil paints again and I still love it.<3 We were allowed to use colours this time - only two different though - that's why he looks like a zombie.:D
Even though I somehow like the black/white painting more this one has much more likeness I guess...:/

And some very quick figure drawings to improve my sense for proportion...It's another guy btw and he had tattoos all over his body what really made him quite hard to draw. Also we were only three people in the room what made the whole thing quite intense....D:
