Miniature Artworks - ACEO Commissions

Just why are these amazingly small cards so hugely popular.? I mean they're pretty and easy to collect but..so tiny. ._.
Working on them puts more pressure on me than working on big canvases, but people keep commissioning them so I did the best I could. I slowly start to adapt myself to this format but seriously..it feels like I have to learn everything all over again.
They're good for experimenting with different colour schemes though, I really like the atmosphere of the top one.

Here's some work in progress for you. :)

Halloween Rendevouz

I guess a Halloween evening couldn't get any more romantic, don't you agree...?:)
Finally done! Took me quite a while, I planned on finishing it at the 31. actually...
Anyway - watercolour, copic marker and white gel pen on A4 water colour board. I started the lines on A3 size but ruined the first colouring attempt and since I was too lazy to draw and ink the lines again I had to print them out in A4. Who knows, when I would have been done with it otherwise..:,D
So yeah..I enjoyed working on it, wish me luck for the contest!:3

Halloween Rendevouz - W.I.P. I

rough composition draft
elaborated sketch
sketch detail
sketch detail
finished lineart

Sketch for my entry for a DeviantArt Halloween competition. I somehow felt like entering and finally wanted to create a bigger and more detailed picture again which I haven't for month now... I enjoy working on it.:3

Pixie Dust - Prologue pages 1-4

Lined traditionally and added screentones digitaly to the first four pages of the prologue.
It's weird to draw so many children...so far my characters have always been at least teenagers.:/
It's a good practise though and I feel quite relaxed drawing Faylinn. She's a cute girl.
I can relate to her better than expected.

Follow me...!

 media: copic marker, coloured pencils,
acrylic paints, pastel chalk
size: A4
time: 16 hours

It's finally done!:D Took me ages to colour and is absolutely NOT in the colour palette I planned to use but I quite like it this way as well.
I'd just love her to look a bit less scary...at first I couldn't make her look mysterious at all, she was just a cutie, but know...she looks like a demon or something..D:,
Plus, I failed with the feet...-.-" way to small and strangely shaped...I need more feet-practise.
The head also is to big..argh I keep finding more and more errors!
However, I like it.

Here's the W.I.P. animation.:3
(good fairy turns into evil...ahah ^^")

Pixie Dust - Sketches

I sketched the first pages of Pixie Dust today - more to give it a go and get into drawing manga again after I somehow managed to not draw a single page for more than a year...O__O
I can't believe it's been so long... I noticed it during the drawing though...I need loads of practise to get as good(?) as I used to be, but that's what this story would be perfect for basically. :3
After all..I still love drawing mangas so very much. It's such a nice and more complex way to express something, rather than with a single painting only.

Niki-Pixie Dust

This is only a very quick sketch on the back of a VERY creased letter I received today....: D
Thanx to the postmen...
I started with a doodle and then worked more and more into it until I finally started to like it... haha

It's the character-design for a mysterious little fairy of a story written by a girl who asked me to draw a comic version of it.^-^
I might do it, I kinda like the story and it's not too long either...

It's the very first time I've drawn a fairy btw...ö.ö It was fun.

I'm gonna do a better version of her soon.: D

KaKAO-cards #1 & #2

I've just painted my very first couple of KaKAO's -  Kartenkunst, Auflagen und Originale - or better ATC's - Artist Trading Cards - I prefer the German name though.:D

They've been around for ages and I always quite enjoyed looking at them but never really knew what they're all about.^-^ I knew that they would be traditional painted images on small sized cards, but I never though they might be THAT small! D:< I mean 2,5 x 3,5 inches is ridiculously tiny!!! It definitely takes much patience and attention to create a nice one and it took me way longer than I would have imagined.... ._."
Anyway, I love the fact that they're created to get exchanged against cards by other artists and I definately want to get a huge collection of them!*-* So I'd better get started now to produce some I can trade at the Connichi in September. I'm really looking forward to it.<3

I found this charming tiny book at Camden Market - which I do love above all other shopping possibilities London has to offer :D - and the format fits the measurements KaKAO cards should have perfectly, so I'm gonna use it to collect some ideas and the cards. I did customise it a bit as well..:)

Broken Twins

I finished the colouring yesterday.:3 Took me quite a long time but I really enjoyed it, especially the hair - and there's loads of it. I love colouring hair.*-*
I cheated and inserted the flower background digitaly since the paper I painted on was way to small and I was afraid of ruining the girls...

Again a gif animation that shows the colouring process.
(and again you have to klick on it to see the animation...still don't know why it doesn't work in here...)

Broken Twins - Sketch

'Una and Fleur are so called 'Broken Twins'. Both are connected to each other and a terrible fate surrounds them. According to the legend the sister who dies first will go to hell - the other one will face a peaceful dead. But the twin has to be murdered by the hand of its sibling. So they both hit the road, hate-ridden, to find and kill each other...'

That's the story written by a lovely girl who asked me to design the cover image for it.
She commissioned me a few weeks ago and I finally managed to get at least the outlines done. I've used the yin and yang symbol as the basis to symbolise how deeply connected both sisters are. Also I tried to illustrate their opposed charakters according to the description by the author.

If you want to see some indermediate steps of the drawing process you have to click on the image below. I don't know why it isn't working in here... .__."

It's the first time I've made a gif animation to show the different steps of the drawing process.
I think it works quite well.:3

My Lilly

A picture I drew a few month ago actually...It's a beloved character of a beloved story by me to which I couldn't pay much attention during the last....years - unfortunately. u.u"
I'm so looking forward to find some time to carry on with it.:D

Ocean Tales

I managed to scan it even today.:3 The scanner at the Uni is absolutely fantastic! Wish I would own it...
I didn't even had to edit it afterwards, just added some more realistic bubbles using these gorgeous brushes in gimp.
I'm quite satisfied with the result, hope some people will like it.:3

16 hours needed in total....need to sleep now.<3

Ocean Tales - W.I.P. -II-

Some more steps of my newest artwork.:) I really enjoy painting such a huge and detailed picture again finally.:D (okay it's only A3 but for me thats huge ^-^)

Octopus...'head' thingy (I know, it's way to small for the huge heads they have..^^°)
Anatomy fail -.-

Defining the tentacles.:D I loved them at first and hated them at the end. haha
Although I've not even painted all eight of them. ._.
The details and folds of the skirt have also been quite time-consuming, and I wasn't really sure if the violet would work, but I quite like it this way.:3

Some details so far.:D
Again, these are just very blurred photographs...
I'll take the finished painting to the Uni tomorrow to scann it there.:3

Ocean Tales - W.I.P.

Okay I've just realized that I don't like the idea for my newest Studio Diamond contribution anymore. : /
It just popped up in my mind that I want to do something ocean related, and I started straight away without doing any colour- or characterstudies before, what's a bad thing I know.. ._.°
I'm just behind time so badly again, and have to contribute soon.

Some W.I.P. so far~

composition sketch                 sketch                  outlines

tracing process onto the primed water colour paper

first wash (I always have to force myself to keep on going and not putting it into the bin at this stage, because it simply looks so...poor xD"

further washes to get at least the lady in shape :3 Colouring the hair and the skin is always the most exciting part for me. And the costume design of course.<3
(just photographs, so sorry for the bad quality and bleached colours...)

8 hours so far...already...gosh I'm so slow.x.X"
Now I've to finish the erm...octopus or whatever and the background... I'm running out of time!!>.<
