Happy (belated) New Year!!

Hello and a very happy and successful new year to all of you! May it be filled with happiness and wonderful moments. This series of artworks is entitle 'New Years Wishes' and was done for the calendar my siblings and me create for our mum every year as a Christmas present.
I didn't have much time for them so they're quite quick and simple but I still like them..hope you do too. Which one is your favourite? would be interesting to know. :)

A very special happy New Year to my lovely niece who turned 1 a couple of weeks ago. ♥

(By the way, there's 50% off all prints at the moment since I need to move house and everything must go.
Have alook at the SALE section if you're interested. :) )

More Workshops

Here are some more outcomes of the workshops we did at Uni within the last few weeks.
One was called Realism Now! and we were tought how to create very realistic portraits using layers of crosshatching. I really enjoyed it. :)

they looked lovely all put on the wall next to each other.
We also did some very quick life drawing sessions where we had to change material constantly.

Then we did something colaborative called 'film on the wall' which was a lot of fun even though it looks kind of weird...

And some still lifes using some dead animals.

"And the earth turned blind, so she grew it eyes..."

Just a quick water colour illustration for my new facebook page. Add me there for more updates if you're interested. I think it's slightly easier to follow than blogger. :)

For my beloved ones

So this is a portrait of my little baby sister who grew up way to fast...
For her 19th birthday already, gosh I miss her so much!
Featuring her two super cute bunnies and her pet owl. c:

I tried working in a mixed media/collage style and absolutely enjoyed it!

Actually she's not that dark and her hair isn't that white either (but it is indeed curly, fluffy and voluminous like this!)...it's not a realistic portrait anyway and  I simply liked the contrast so I went with it.

This is for my beloved mum, who asked me for a design she could burn into wood, to use it as a name plate. Those cranes represent our whole family and the blank space is for our address. I can't wait to see the finished plate - she's really good at this! And I'm very glad she was so pleased with the design.c:

Sketch Dump

Some more pages from my sketchbook...really need to get started with that college project now - not to mention that essay...x(

resulting from a chess overdose
since my boyfriend is obsessed with that game lately..

Current state of the illustration. Ah I'm not very confident that it'll turn out the way I intended it to...:/

tiny self-portrait

Sorry for the long absence....holidays always are so very busy.
But now I'm back on track - College stars again next week and I really need to get my creativity to sprout (but even more important - I'm in urgent need of a desk. Since I moved house in June I don't have one and I just can't work like this!! :/)

So yeah, first of all some more StudioDiamond work.
Theme this month was to produce a tiny self-portrait which can be used as a motif for buttons as well as for our homepage to introduce ourselves and our styles.
It's really interesting to see each others work. The different styles and personalities turned out so very well, I love them all.:)
So this is my contribution. It was a quick and tiny thing but I really enjoyed it though.:3

Wiebke - Portrait

I drew this portrait for the birthday of a friend of mine. I'm not really satisfied and my boyfriend even says he doesn't recognize her at all...haha ^^°
I guess that's mainly because of the 'colours' I chose, actually she's a pretty blue-eyed blondie but since the reference for this drawing was a black-white photograph I decided to use sepia shades. Wrong decision obviously. But otherwise it still has some sort of likeness I guess...ahah :D

Because all you can see are his shadows - Final outcome

Okay finally I managed to scan the final piece of the last Unit of year one.:3
It really didn't turned out how I wanted it to...:/ Even though I loved the outlines I spoiled them with this way to tiny size of the painting - I just wasn't able to paint it on a bigger sheet within the short time that was left. I'm still way to slow with painting.....x_x"

It's the most personal painting I've done so far I guess...
For everyone who's interested in the idea behind the picture - here are some extracts from the evaluation I had to write about it.

Because all you can see are his shadows - W.I.P.

Some work in process of my final outcome for the narrative portraiture Unit.
I used the golden ratio for the first time intentionally, it's a really interesting thing I knew about since many years but never really considered to actually use it in my art. ._. Don't ask why, it's extremely helpfull for creating aesthetic, dynamic and well balanced paintings/designs.

golden spiral used as the basis for the motif

roughly sketched outlines

more defined outlines

Portrait Lifedrawing II

This feels actually like ages ago... but I really didn't had much time to post during the stress of the last weeks..ahah :,D
Another life drawing session using oil paints again and I still love it.<3 We were allowed to use colours this time - only two different though - that's why he looks like a zombie.:D
Even though I somehow like the black/white painting more this one has much more likeness I guess...:/

And some very quick figure drawings to improve my sense for proportion...It's another guy btw and he had tattoos all over his body what really made him quite hard to draw. Also we were only three people in the room what made the whole thing quite intense....D:
