Commission - 'Saphirtränen'

I had the honour to illustrate a character from Jennifer Jäger's wonderful novel 'Saphirtränen'.
After reading the book I couldn't really chose just one character so I made several sketches and decided to paint Niamh - the heroine as well as Edan - her...counterpart in many ways...
Towards the end of the book I almost hated him but his attractiveness made up for that I guess. :,)
Oh well, this is my personal interpretation of them anyway.

If you want to learn more about these two make sure to check out her homepage. :)

Commission - 'Nhia'

A Postcard-sized commission for Mia. I was asked to paint her mischievous mermaid 'Nhia' and accepted gladly, for this is just how I always imagined those creatures to be and behave like - brutal, elegant and sinister sea beasts.

Also there is an interview with me online now at Amazing Stories. If you like to learn a bit more about the thoughts behind my work this might be of interest. :)

'Zarin der Vampire'

Hello everyone!

As some of you might have noticed I've been working on some illustrations for a novel earlier this year.
'Zarin der Vampire' ('Tsarina of the Vampires'
is finally available in print now and my copy arrived yesterday. :)
I am very satisfied with how the images look in print and the novel itself is great!
The print edition contains part I and II of the series which is a tasteful combination of vampire novel, murder mystery and historical fiction surrounding the assassination of the Tsar’s family in 1918. For more information about the book visit [amazon].
It's only available in German for now but an English translation is planned for the end of this year.

I am allowed to share the illustrations I've created so here you go.

Part I

limited colour versions for the e-books

black and white versions for the printed book

Part II

limited colour versions for the e-books

black and white versions for the printed book

Here is some work in progress of all the illustrations.

Fairy Tale Bookmarks

Hello everyone! :)

I created four fairy-tale inspired black and white illustrations as part of my application for a very wonderful job. I liked them so much that I decided to colour them and then someone pointed out that they'd serve brilliantly as bookmarks so I made some which are on sale on my new opened DaWanda Online Shop. :)
Maybe some of you will find something there they like, I'm grateful about every single customer.^^

Oh and amazingly I managed to get that job too.
So I'll be the illustrator of this year's 'Sting in the Tale' brochure for Dorset's big Storytelling festival. Pretty exciting, I'm delighted.♥
That means I have to create up to 35 illustrations similar to these within the next 1 1/2 week which will be quite a challenge but I'm well on my way I guess ..(I hope..)

I hope you like them. :)
Personally I'm obsessed with fairy tales and just recently have really gotten into the Swedish ones which have their completely own charm. These ones are based on the German tales I grew up with (or at least the German Grimm's versions of them). Can you guess which ones?

Take care, Anja
