Miniature Artworks - ACEO Commissions

Just why are these amazingly small cards so hugely popular.? I mean they're pretty and easy to collect but..so tiny. ._.
Working on them puts more pressure on me than working on big canvases, but people keep commissioning them so I did the best I could. I slowly start to adapt myself to this format but seriously..it feels like I have to learn everything all over again.
They're good for experimenting with different colour schemes though, I really like the atmosphere of the top one.

Here's some work in progress for you. :)

the Short Straw

Here are some more insights into my work on the picture book, which will be called 'The Short Straw'.
These are actually the last pieces I can show you of it, the rest will stay top secret for now.:)
This is how I make storyboards. I doodle a thumbnail sketch of every page on post-its and lay them all next to each other onto a table to see how they work together. Than I make some adaptions and rearrangements and finally stick them in my sketchbook alongside everything else regarding the project.

Sketch Dump

Some more pages from my sketchbook...really need to get started with that college project now - not to mention that essay...x(

resulting from a chess overdose
since my boyfriend is obsessed with that game lately..

Current state of the illustration. Ah I'm not very confident that it'll turn out the way I intended it to...:/

Miss Belfry - Sketch

Sketch I'm working on at the moment...
There are cats everywhere lately...I really need one.

Ameline

Finished the colouring. I hope it doesn't look too colourful....it's difficult to give the impression of a city at night without using a lot of colour - it was my first attempt of illustrating a city at night as well so I had difficulties anyway...:,D Her head looks really really weird, I know....strange angle, I need more practise.
Ah- and for Christmas...I want to have a fluffy kitten just like this.:3

Ameline - Sketch

Sketch for a commissioned book cover. Pencil and some tints added with gimp.
It took me so many attempts to figure out the right composition...but I think I've found it now.
I love fluffy kittens.

Business cards

We created business cards today at College. This is what I came up with within those two hours...
I guess I like the one with the cat the most. I'll spend some more time experimenting and elaborating them though to come up with a pretty final design.
My boyfriend just told me that my number is wrong on them..argh. At least I don't have to worry about some dodgy people calling me now.:,D

tiny self-portrait

Sorry for the long absence....holidays always are so very busy.
But now I'm back on track - College stars again next week and I really need to get my creativity to sprout (but even more important - I'm in urgent need of a desk. Since I moved house in June I don't have one and I just can't work like this!! :/)

So yeah, first of all some more StudioDiamond work.
Theme this month was to produce a tiny self-portrait which can be used as a motif for buttons as well as for our homepage to introduce ourselves and our styles.
It's really interesting to see each others work. The different styles and personalities turned out so very well, I love them all.:)
So this is my contribution. It was a quick and tiny thing but I really enjoyed it though.:3
